Why you should stay loyal to your hairdresser

With the Love Island finale upon us, there is one industry and service we are not prepared to sacrifice and that is of our hairdressers.

Nearly three-quarters of women in the UK have remained loyal to their hairdresser and have not visited any others in the past few years. Celebrity Hairdresser and Hair Extension Master, Jay Birmingham has loyal celebrity clients including, TOWIE star Jessica Wright, Corrie's Lucy Fallon and Helen Flanagan - all of who have became close friends to their hairdresser Jay.

Jay commented; "People put more effort into looking good and want to make themselves feel better. As a hairdresser I see spending money on hair services, especially when it comes to colour and extensions as an investment. I like to tell my clients "your hair is the outfit you never take off."

"When I first started out as a hairdresser I needed models to practice on and years down the line I still to this day cut, colour and style their hair. It is important to gain trust with each other and we as hairdressers are one of the few people who clients allow to touch their hair so it is vital the client feels comfortable and trusts your judgment on what is best for their hair," says Jay. "It also means I know a lot of my clients hair history, I know what previous colour they have had, what brands have been used and what suits their face shape and skin tone." With many of the Love Island girls opting for hair extensions this year, as a Celebrity Hair Extension Master Jay states; "hair extensions require a lot of time and after care, meaning you need to build a loyal relationship with your client and you both need to have patience with each other as it is usually a few hours appointment time depending on what method your client has opted for, like pre-bonded which is the case for most of the Love Island girls. I revisit my clients every 6-8 weeks sometimes even checking in via Whatsapp and booking appointments in advance to ensure I keep up not only a great service but maintain a loyal relationship too."
