Lauryn Hill's First Ever Fashion Campaign
As huge admirers of Lauryn Hill, it was certainly music our ear on hearing about her very first fashion campaign for Woolrich in their Autumn/Winter 2018 collection.
Known for her strong personality, creative musical vibes and inspirational instincts, the collection was a perfect fit for the singer. Shot in the Harlem theatre where Lauryn first performed 'Doo Wop' in 1998, she helped recast the brand’s identity through its “Woolrich: American Soul Since 1830” series.
The outfits throughout the collection display true American grit, with Woolrich's trademark checks, denim, workwear and outerwear playing a huge part in the rebrand. For the jackets alone, which are screen-printed with collages of Hill and her eponymous album cover, she came up with 30 jacket sketches – something that came naturally as she has been designing and customising her own clothes for years.
